You will serve as a ELECTRICIAN in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform structure-to electrolyte cathodic protection potential surveys. You will perform installation and repair of electrical systems such as primary and secondary utility services. You will plan and lay out the work, tracing hard-to-locate defects, problems, and completes repairs and installations. You will install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, system, and associated fixtures.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You may be required to become CPR certified.
  • You may require special certification or license if assigned work requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks to include: 1) Assisting in the installation or repair of industrial electrical systems; 2)Using a variety of test equipment, e.g., meggers, multimeters, frequency meters, watt meters, power factor meters, vibro-grounds, phase rotation meters, to perform the job; 3) Deciding on methods and techniques to use based on work orders and schematics; and 4) Carrying out oral and written instructions to complete work orders. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
