You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Expeditionary Electronic Warfare Systems Division (WXQ) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. ***Open to applicants of ORG and sub-org: WXQ, WXQD, WXQL, WXQM, WXQN, WXQNL, WXQR, WXQS, WXQT, WXQV, WXQW, WXQX, WXQY. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).

Duties

You will play a critical role in the development, implementation and operations of a battlespace operations and experimentation collection and analysis capability for assessing new EMSO technologies/capabilities. You will act as a technical lead in providing a new and enhanced capability that will provide spectrum awareness and safety for experimentation and test training events. You will lead in the development of EMS decoys and test artifacts for new range test and experimentation capabilities. You will provide event data gathering, ground truth, spectrum de-confliction, spectrum capture and analysis and IQ recording.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • You may be required to lift equipment up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical electronic engineering leadership and guidance for research, development, or testing of Infrared, Radio Frequency (RF), or Countermeasure system technologies in support of electronic warfare system technological advancement and sustainment of the fleet.
