The primary purpose is to provide security oversight and program protection for a program office in order to mitigate threats posed by espionage, terrorism, and threat of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to the program office's interests, national defense or national security.
Duties
Serves as the technical authority in conducting the Information Security Program protection the program office and information handled at all programs operating locations from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to the program office's interests, national defense or national security.
Responsible for information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/ recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that require deviations from or synthesis of policies that can have national implications.
Serves as the security program manager and as a recognized technical authority on Information Protection issues.
Plans, organizes, and directs the program protection planning activities of the program, its facilities and weapon systems at contractor and other government locations ensuring that all elements of protection complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs throughout the program.
