The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the wing security specialist, providing information, physical, personal, and industrial security program functions, policies and issues, managing assigned program areas, and implementing necessary regulations, policy, and procedures for the establishment and maintenance of the security program.
Duties
Serve as a win authority and expert on all security related matters, requirements, policy, procedures and program status.
Responsible for the overall implementation oversight and centralized control of the security program for the wing.
Plan, conduct, direct the conduct of, or coordinates on security site studies, projects, assessments and surveys of the wing in relation to security related activities.
Assist unit security managers in implementing security education and motivation programs.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of security specialties to include physical, personal, and operational security to identify and resolve conflict and complex policy and program objectives and procedures within the security functional area; ability to undertake long range studies, projects, or forecast independently as a member of a group or as the organizer and director, with the purpose of enhancing security systems efficiency or influencing future security planning policies and programs.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
Knowledge of AF, MAJCOM and Wing missions, functions and structure.
Knowledge of security forces, programs, and governing policies, directives, instructions, and procedures.
Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to conduct surveys, studies, accomplish projects, and evaluate results for the management and completion of programs.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professionals (SAPPC ) conferrals are required within two years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance and certification and AFI-36-264, Security Professional Certification and development. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority(SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
Physical Demands
The work is primarily sedentary and accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal work day. No special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work.
Work Environment
The work is primarily performed in an office like setting, involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
