You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Ocean Engineering Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will serve as an Engineering Technician responsible for providing Quality Assurance techniques such as metrics, assessments, and continuous process improvement (techniques such as LEAN). You will provide reports such as analyses, evaluations, and documentation of processes and procedures used in support of Ocean Engineering projects. You will support certification and ensure compliance to configuration management duties within certification to include conducting audits and performing surveillances. You will develop and implement metrics for the Ocean Engineering Department (OED) in order to provide data to have viable self-assessments of OED operations and processes. You will review the work of Design technical groups for proper implementation of program (Certification and Configuration Management) requirements. You will organize and conduct Shipyard System Certification Audits and surveys on assigned projects providing audit and survey status to Shipyard management. You will conduct audits, maintain, update, and perform analysis on databases, and perform safety and reliability analyses.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12 Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing technical engineering and quality assurance services in support of process improvement and certification of engineering projects. GS-11 Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical engineering services in support of process improvement and certification of engineering projects.
