About the Position: Serves as a primary instructor of anatomy and physiology for courses attended by enlisted service members at the Medical Education & Training Campus (METC) and U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) and taught by the Anatomy Physiology and Pharmacy Branch, located at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.

Duties

Plan, develop and present lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises in human anatomy and physiology. Plan course objectives, develop curriculum and course content and organize and conduct classes and practical exercises in human anatomy and physiology. Develop course material and examinations for anatomy and physiology classes. Serve as a subject matter expert within the Anatomy Physiology and Pharmacy Branch. Direct lectures toward clinical situations of relevance to the target audience. Conduct exam reviews, proctors exams and conducts developmental training to students who do not meet minimum course requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includesplanning course objectives, developing curriculum and course content, organizing, and conducting classes and laboratory practical exercises in human anatomy and physiology in support of courses which require specialty instruction. Experience using a variety and wide range of teaching aids/ techniques/illustrations/demonstrations/methods such as lesson plans, handouts, manuscripts, audiovisual aids, etc., to ensure student learning. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Anatomy, Health Science and Physiology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
