The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and counsel on and around the Airman and Family Readiness Center's (A&FRC). 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing, 707 Force Support Squadron, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

Duties

Assesses individual and family needs and provides continuing work/life services to eligible populations. Participates in implementing, maintaining, and providing installation work/life services that meet community needs. Conducts and implements marketing and public relations campaigns to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. Ensures availability of technology-based resources to maximize customer access to a full spectrum of resources to meet life-cycle needs.

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated Non-Critical Sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain A SECRET security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The employee will be required to undergo pre-employment and/or random polygraph examinations in accordance with security regulations.

  • You must understand that this is a TERM 8 NOV 26 position, and a 3 calendar day break in service (to exclude civilian and military retirees receiving an annuity)

Qualifications

This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-09 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GG-09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of social services delivery systems and concepts, principles, and theories relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields to assess needs and concerns of clients and help them to understand how certain behavior patterns/attitudes impact and affect their career, transition, relocation, and family situation and learn about their abilities, capacities, interests, and goals concerning their various work/life requirements. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2. Knowledge of personal financial management practices and techniques to provide clients with appropriate financial data and practical financial skills to enable them to make informed personal financial management decisions. 3. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals/families and with program representatives and officials. 4. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
