The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Lead Strategic Planning Specialist and Action Officer in the 502d Air Base Wing's Commander's Action Group (CAG) for the Wing Commander and senior staff.
Duties
Serves as a point of contact within and representative for the 502 ABW Commander's Action Group.
Strategic advisor to the Wing Commander for critical issues to include implementing the command's strategic plan and priorities.
Plans/conducts staff meetings and Commander's Calls as directed.
Writes speeches for the Commander and senior leadership for presentation at high-visibility military and civic engagements.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions and Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) Interpreting pertinent laws, regulations, instructions, policies, precedents, and local guidelines which affect Commander hosted programs and related support resources in the area or development studied. (2) Utilizing analytical proficiency to discern short, medium, and long-term effects of changes in staff operations practices, procedures, and policies and to effectively evaluate the various components of senior staff operations as part of an integrated whole. (3) Exercising extensive knowledge and skill in making decisions that will significantly change or require rapid interpretation of command-level issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the commander sponsored programs. (4) Demonstrating the aptitude to plan and organize studies or projects and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies.
2. Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs and organizational relationships, program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating and planning actions as related to actual events.
3. Knowledge of and skill in developing objectives, agendas, timelines, and content required to coordinate/support and conduct Command-sponsored events, obtain resources, and assess overall effectiveness to meet identified requirements.
4. Ability to plan, organize work, meet deadlines, successfully coordinate, and motivate others, while maintaining a professional image in a day-to-day working relationship with high-ranking military and civilian members.
5. Skill in communicating effectively with tact and diplomacy, orally and in writing, to advocate command positions; to recommend response to criticism of the command's function or performance; to logically and effectively explain programs, functions, and activities and gain understanding of the organization's efforts by concerned audiences.
6. Knowledge of the various computer software applications, tools, and techniques to support office operations, web pages, and to produce a wide range of products requiring complex formats.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
