Duties
Continually review command instructions for compliance with current Joint Commission guidelines and maintains a current and complete set of instructions, reports, and other pertinent data that is organized according to Joint Commission functions.
Manage the Joint Commission Reference Library by ensuring up-to-date instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. Coordinates update of Joint Commission standards on the Command intranet.
Assist in the preparation of the Command's annual Joint Commission survey application.
In conjunction with the supervisor or higher graded specialist, the incumbent compile required information and submit application for review by the chain-of command prior to submission deadline.
Participate in the completion of annual Periodic Performance Review to validate compliance with Joint Commission standards and elements of performance.
Assist in the implementation of Continuous Improvement tools, data collection techniques, measurement techniques, statistical process control methodologies, and processes for reporting and documenting Continuous Improvement activities.
Coordinate training sessions for individuals, teams/groups/committees to ensure they are properly educated in the concepts and tools of performance improvement.
Prepare written reports, informational documents, storyboards, etc. to inform members of the command and other interested agencies (The Joint Commission, IG) and to assist with the process of implementing performance improvement initiatives.
Compile and organize data, CI reports and provides analysis of the information for teams and committees to determine appropriate action for improvements.
Create and analyze databases and charts for teams using the applications of SPSS, PowerPoint, FOCUS-POCA Quality Improvement Model and other technical support as appropriate.

Assists with the actual Joint Commission survey processes, surveyors and Medical Inspector General reviews.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes healthcare delivery assisting with conducting record reviews, and reviews of other critical patient information for compliance with Joint Commission standards to improve the healthcare delivery processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07)
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
