About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Medical Support Assistant within Army Community Hospital Evans in the Dir of RM, Clinical Support and OPS. Duty location Fort Carson, Colorado
Duties
Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) for the Medical Treatment Facility(MTF), provides direct assistance to the staff, faculty, leadership and clinical staff
in providing services to Soldiers, family members and DoD beneficiaries in coordinating activities with a variety of medical, social service, and legal staff.
Provides administrative and medical support that requires the application of extensive guidelines and specialized knowledge, particularly in the provision of the administration of medical records.
Performs receptionist/clerical support to include template creation and management for providers.
Provides clerical/administrative and automation support for clinic using multiple computer systems and technologies.
Requirements
- This position may require incumbent to be screened for additional immunization.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is designated Inclement Weather Essential every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions is required.
- This position requires completion of a background investigation and may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by the completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates experience in; 1) Entering, manipulating, and retrieving information and data from a medical automation system; 2) Scheduling and coordinate appointments for patients within various clinics; 3) Performing customer service functions in a medical facility setting, such as answering telephones, relaying messages, and handling customer complaints; 4) Provide information regarding, clinic and hospital policies, procedures, and locations to patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
