Duties
As a Title 10 Faculty Member (Military History), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Conducts research and directs graduate-level student research in the general field of military history, Assists in the development of graduate-level curricula for both the CGSC resident and nonresident programs pertaining to military history.
Assists in preparation and review of graduate-level course syllabi, lesson plans, examinations, practical exercises, visual aids, support requests, student issue plans, and other plans that specify instructional support requirements.
Develops functional competencies in other subject areas, as assigned, in order to act as supplementary instructor in strategic studies, tactical warfighting, logistics or leadership.
Develops and revises existing course material, coordinates with departmental members and other subject matter experts to initiate content changes, develop different approaches and methods of instruction.
Assists course authors in determining the specific topics to be treated, the material to be included, the organization of the material, and the emphasis to be given individual aspects of the subject.
Presents graduate-level lectures, seminars, and other military history instruction to CGSC resident campus course students on Command and General Staff Officers' Course (CGSOC) common core and Advanced Operation curriculum courses.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- The work involves physical effort typical of teaching positions, with substantial platform instruction.

About the Position: Serves as a Title 10 Faculty Member (Military History) performing instructional duties of subjects in military history and military leadership concepts.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: All applicants must possess an earned Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD); OR an equivalent professional doctorate degree OR achieved All But Dissertation (ABD) status from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration in history, international relation, political science, or in a comparable field related to the position. NOTE: You must attach copies of your transcripts to your application to include documentation of ABD status, if applicable.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Developing graduate and/or undergraduate level curriculum; and
2) Teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level; and
3) Performing academic research at the graduate and/or undergraduate level either in history, international relations, and/or political science.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Skill in facilitating student academic research and writing
Skill in teaching small group facilitation
Ability to deliver graduate level instruction/facilitation in both in-person and remote modes
Skill in curriculum development or assessment methodologies
Academic rank and salary will be determined based on the selectee's education and experience as outlined in the Title 10 Civilian Faculty Manual. This position will be filled at one of the following academic ranks:
Instructor
Assistant Professor
Associate Professor
Professor
