About the Position: Serves as Director (in the absence of the military Director) of one of the departments within the Command and General Staff College, CGSS and the Deputy Provost, ArmyU to perform duties in support of the Army's professional military and civilian education programs.
This position will be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment by a current permanent Army employee.

Duties
As a Director, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Serve as a member of the senior staff, providing analysis, recommendations, and scholarly professional and reasoned judgments on a wide range of areas regarding professional education and the efficient and effective operation of the programs.
Advise, assist and act for the CGSS Director or Deputy Provost, Army University, in oversight of curriculum design, research, and professional development of faculty and students.
Receive policy and general professional guidance from the CGSS Director or the Deputy Provost, Army University.
Responsible for planning, conducting, and monitoring all technical and qualitative aspects of the programs.
Responsible for managing operational level focused curriculum developers, who design curriculums to include programs of instructions, instructional materials, and appropriate reading materials.
Assign and approve major projects, providing overall direction, policy guidance, and advice in the development, and preparation of current and long-range plans, professional, and administrative aspects of the department’s activities.
Responsible for direct supervision of committee chiefs, and teaching team leaders. Performs the full spectrum of basic supervisory authorities and responsibilities regarding work planning and personnel management.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement: A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application.)

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves providing advice and consultation in supporting the Army's professional military and civilian education programs; providing oversight of curriculum design, research and professional development of faculty and students; administering regulations, policies and providing guidance and direction to faculty and subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
All Applicants must meet time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
Education
