Duties
You will serve as the Director of the Department of Command and Leadership (DCL) with the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list. You will supervise faculty at Fort Leavenworth and two off-sire satellite campuses (SC).
Receives policy and general professional guidance from the Director, Command and General Staff School (CGSS) and the Deputy Commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (USACGSC).
Supervises a faculty of approximately 35 civilian and military faculty members who develop and deliver leadership curriculum for the 10-month long resident Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC).
Assists in the preparation of courseware for CGSOC course delivery through advanced distributed learning (ADL) and through The Army Schools System (TASS) with an enrollment of more than 3000 students annually.
Responsible for planning, conducting, and monitoring all technical and qualitative aspects of the leadership program at CGSC and Oversees production of various leadership masters' degree theses and professional publications.
Serves as a member of the senior leadership of the Command and General Staff College, providing analysis, recommendations, and scholarly professional and reasoned judgments.
As the subject matter expert on leadership and leader development, advises the Deputy Commandant and other Department Directors on all matters of leadership education in the CGSC curriculum.

Basic Education Requirement: Applicants MUST possess a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. (You must submit a copy of your official transcripts).

DOCTORATE LEVEL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: This Title 10 position requires the incumbent to possess/earn a Ph.D., OR within two years of completion (normally ABD) from a regionally accredited Institution in a leadership related field (Leadership, Management, Psychology, Organizational Development/Behavior, Organizational Ethics, or other related field). Degrees such as DMin, DDiv, JD, are not considered directly related. History or education could be if concentration of study/research was on leadership. Applicants with an earned doctorate from a Regionally Accredited Institution in any field of study other than the ones listed above are considered academically qualified if they have graduate academic credit of 18 hours in a leadership related field. If you have not completed a Ph.D., you will be required to obtain your Doctorate degree within two (2) years from your entry-on-duty date. (You must submit a copy of your official transcripts.)

PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: This position requires the incumbent be an Intermediate Level Education (Command and General Staff Officers Course or another service Intermediate Level Education course) graduate; or achieved US Army Military Education Level 4 and Joint Professional Military Education Level 1. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience providing advice on leadership, leader development, oversees the curriculum and/or course design process, and providing policy guidance to all aspect of a departments activities.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Knowledge of military leader development policy and programs
Experience as a leader of large complex organizations
Knowledge and experience in curriculum development.
Teaching experience at the graduate level.
Recognized expertise and publication in a discipline related to leadership.
Oral and written communication skills.
