You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the OFFICE OF SPECIAL TRIAL COUNSEL of NLSC.

Duties

You will participate in the substantive development of cases in an office conducting enforcement activities. You will analyze and evaluate case files against case litigation worthiness standards. You will prepare legal documents requiring independent legal research and analysis. You will be the subject matter expert on preparing, maintaining, and managing client case files for courts-martial or administrative separation boards. You will interview clients and witnesses to obtain and verify information. You will deliver formal or informal presentations/training regarding legal or administrative procedure to appropriate audiences.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing assigned criminal cases in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; 2) Applying a knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and analysis sufficient to perform recurring case development and documentation assignments; 3) Preparing and reviewing legal pleadings and case summaries, accompanying attorneys during hearings and litigation to assist in the organization of testimony, presentation of evidence, and required research; 4) Interviewing victims and witnesses to obtain and verify information and prepare for trial; and 5) Utilizing various legal techniques and skills necessary to analyze both issues of fact and issues of law in order to prepare digests of case decisions, evaluate the applicability of precedents, or to draft briefs, other litigation papers, advisory opinions, or findings Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
