You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Nuclear) in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will plan, develop, or administer quality assurance audit and surveillance reports of shipyard activities engaged in nuclear work in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department.
You will make frequent, thorough inspections of nuclear work facilities, procedures and workmanship, investigating and analyzing the results of those inspections and reporting to management.
You will evaluate replies to audit action items, deficiency reports, etc., by other shipyard activities to insure adequate depth of action and timely response.
You will report problems in assigned projects, organizations, and functions to managers or supervisors to assure the supervisor has timely knowledge of emergent problems or trends.
You will prepare deficiency reports (Quality Control and Radiological), technical manuals, nuclear power manuals, assessments, periodic reports, etc.
You will act as the quality assurance representative of the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department in assigned nuclear auditing and process management matters.
You will be responsible for keeping current with the latest requirements and with information and new developments available in areas of responsibility.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work involves regular and recurring construction or field inspections, investigation or surveys which require the ability to stand for long periods of time, some walking, stooping, bending, and climbing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting quality assurance audits or surveillances and analyzing results in support of nuclear work of overhaul, testing, maintenance, and refueling to identify operational or procedural deficiencies and recommend corrective action to ensure project completion.
