Duties

Advise other Quality Assurance Specialist on audit techniques or methods of evaluation. Serve as advisor to the Continuous Process Improvement Division Chief regarding the application of methods and their impact on the depot. Recommend appropriate action to improve methods and correct root cause of problems. Review performance data collected from varied sources to determine areas of improvement. Manage corrective actions regarding the recurring deficiencies identified through evaluations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position may require travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes.
• Obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
• This is a Term position scheduled to last 2 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
• Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain an Intermodal Dry Cargo Container (CSC) certification within one (1) year of employment.
• Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) certification within one (1) year of employment.
• Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the Ammo 62 certification within one (1) year of employment.
• Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certification within one (1) year of employment.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy of quality/inspection systems, 2) Recommending policy or procedural changes of resources for process improvement, and 3) Managing corrective actions regarding recurring deficiencies identified through evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
