You will serve as a Production Controller (Ships) in the Engineering and Planning Dept, Chief Engineer, Process Control Div (Code 220), Work Packing (Nuclear) BR (Code 229) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will assemble and release all necessary supporting information, documentation, material and work authorizations for nuclear tasks packaging. You will certify completed work in accordance with the nuclear and non-nuclear work packaging and control process guides. You will coordinate and provide the necessary paperwork to the coordinators and project zone managers for the job summary review process. You will read and interpret drawings, process instructions, specifications, nuclear power manuals, technical manuals and work requests. You will utilize oral and written forms of communication to correspond with various levels of personnel.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with nuclear and non-nuclear production methods, technical procedures, materials and equipment required for shipyard maintenance, repairs and overhaul of nuclear Navy vessels; Experience with preventing production delays, scheduling conflicts and lack of sufficient material and instructions; Experience with material acquisition, storage, issue, hazardous material procedures, kitting and delivery; Experience working with diverse entities within the organization to ensure project completion; Experience reading and interpreting TWDs, processing instructions, specifications, Nuclear Power manuals, technical manuals and work requests.
