This position is located at the Indian Health Service, Blackfeet Service Unit, Browning, Montana, Division of Administrative Support Services, Branch of the Business Office. The primary purpose of this position is to provide receptionist services which, is the key point for interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for Alternate Resources, Patient Registration, Purchased Referred Care (PRC) and other pertinent health information.
Duties
Conduct patient interviews and record/update patient information.
Perform insurance verification and updating eligibility dates.
Obtain, scan, record, and file copies of patient documentation.
Perform auditing of random patient charts
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
General Experience -Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Specialized Experience -Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
GS-04: One (1) year of general experience OR EDUCATION: Two (2) year's above high school.
GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level OR EDUCATION: Four (4) years above high school.
GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Specialized Experience for the GS-5: Interviewing patients to obtain patient registration information (i.e. demographics, third party resources information); Assist patients in completing required forms to ensure accuracy and completeness for the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Patient Registration System (PRS); Experience in verifying eligibility requirements for individuals seeking medical care at Indian Health Service (IHS); Experience in verifying whether documented proof offered meets IHS requirements, greeting patients on the telephone and in person, maintaining record confidentially and safeguarding patient information
Specialized Experience for the GS-6: Determines the eligibility of patient seeking healthcare; Assisting patient in competing new or updated forms; obtaining and verifying health records; assisting with making appointment for patients with all providers.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
