Serve as a Security Guard in and around the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) facility in enforcing special security measures in a restricted controlled environment to protect personnel, property, records, material, and equipment against injury, harm, damage, fire, and theft and the possibility of sabotage and espionage. Responsibility is for an Army-hosted, jointly-manned DoD facility for three different Department of Defense intelligence agencies.

Duties

Duties section: This announcement is open to All U.S. Citizens who reside or are currently employed in the Fort Meade local commuting area, which includes the District of Columbia and Baltimore City; Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Prince George, Montgomery, Howard, Harford, Charles, Calvert, Carroll, Frederick and Baltimore; Adams County in Pennsylvania; Virginia counties of Arlington and Fairfax and all cities existing in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties. As a SECURITY GUARD you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Position is a (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under U.S.C. 1601

  • Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible, but is not a full time telework position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a routine basis.
  • If selected, the incumbent must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as indicated in job announcement.
  • Employee must also be trained on the use of firearms semi-annually and follow guidelines set in AR 190-56 and DoDI 5525.15. Personnel found unable to qualify with firearms will not be retained.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG 06 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Evaluating crime prevention programs to recommend change to reduce opportunities for theft, assault, illegal entry, and other violations. Using special individual weapons in marksmanship, multiple weapons stress (shoot/no shoot), instinctive firing, automatic firing, weapons safety, and maintenance assembly/disassembly. Providing daily oversight of support personnel.
