Salary: $163 964 - 191 900 per year

You will serve as the Deputy Department Head of the Department of Naval Analysis (DNA), NIMITZ Warfare Analysis Center. DNA conducts long-term, penetrating, all-source analysis and production in support of theater and Navy component-level strategy, operational, campaign and war planning through detailed assessments of foreign naval forces and their maritime strategies. The department comprises six geographically-aligned divisions. This position is located in Suitland, MD

Duties

You will coordinate with the Department Head in planning for, defending, allocating, and executing the department's annual budget, to include contract and organization level programs. You will communicate authoritatively, both orally and written, to include senior level communications and support. You will fulfill the full breadth of first-level line supervisor responsibilities, to include building and leading teams. You will establish department priorities to reflect relevant customer requirements, and allocate resources to balance priorities among national, naval staff, and fleet customer needs, while building collaborative relationships and networks. You will work closely with the Department Head in leading the department's mission and is responsible for overseeing analysis and reporting of current intelligence and long-term research.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires periodic polygraph examinations.
  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Some travel may be required (within/outside U.S.)

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leading the agency mission and responsible for overseeing analysis and reporting of current intelligence and long-term research relating to foreign naval operations and intent, to include building and leading teams; 2) Directing and managing activities and resources of a large organization through subordinate supervisors, project/team leads, etc., to include planning, prioritizing, and evaluating intelligence resource needs; and managing contracts and organizational programs; 3) Establishing agency priorities to reflect relevant customer requirements, and allocate resources to balance priorities among national, naval staff, and fleet customer needs, to include building collaborative relationships/networks and senior level communications and support.
