Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (2) years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years.
Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Maintain and monitor Information Technology (IT) requirements for the Office of the Army Expeditionary Civilian Workforce.
Provide customer liaison with the NEC or servicing Network Provider/Information Management Center.
Provides desktop, phone, video and/or printer support for multiple users.
Analyze trends and determines automation requirements for the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Travel may be required on occasion.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-09 Specialized experience is defined as providing technical support for various computer data systems; troubleshooting and solving hardware and software issues; instructing users on equipment features, use and maintenance of equipment, peripherals and software features. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

GS-09 Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Desktop Support. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

GS-09 Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-09 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
GS-11 Specialized experience is defined as providing Information Technology customer support to organization personnel, such as desktop application support and new employee training; serving as an Information Assurance Security Officer for the organization; troubleshooting systems to provide multimedia support, telephonic and video; serving as a liaison with the Network Provider, Information management center and similar entities.

GS-11 Education: successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Desktop Support. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
GS-11 Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
