About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, in Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Formulate the operating program budget and manage and monitor fund distribution for the operation of the Brigade. Prepare supporting data or material for funding requests and justification for submission to higher headquarters. Monitor and manage the organization's Defense Travel System (DTS). Develop and coordinate the planning, formulation, and execution of an organizational budget. Provide advice and guidance to management officials on all budgetary matters. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure managers maintain adequate funding levels and controls throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position which requires the incumbent to comply with requirements of this certification program within 24 months of entering the position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Financial Management, Finance, Business Administration, or another related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget AdministrationBudget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and PresentationFinancial Management Systems Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
