You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Materials) in the Nuclear Material Division (Code 2305) of PSNS and IMF. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position.

Duties

You will be responsible for ordering the correct material for maintenance, overhaul, conversion, alteration, or recycling of Naval nuclear propulsion plants and related support facilities. You will be required to address administrative and technical problems as well as communicate material status and availability information. You will identify potential critical material, solve material deficiencies, determine material interchangeability, and identify logistics deficiencies. You will analyze the technical specifications of products to ensure compliance with requirements and propose alternatives as needed. You will assist in the research of available sources for required material and developing solutions to project material conflicts and problems. You will assist with the coordination of excessing of project materials and material substitution or use of alternate source material. You will establish material priorities and expedite delivery and inspection of controlling material. You will perform engineering and planning services of material and logistics support for new or large systems with numerous subsystems.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-11.
