About the Position: The position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Moore, Georgia 31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.

Duties

Establish workflow, functional assignments and distribute work to meet demands. Instruct and direct employees to ensure they understand regulatory guidelines and current operational directives and policies. Perform supervisory personnel management functions for employees in the assigned work area. Serve as supervisor and independently processes/completes actions involving routine and recurring unusual or complex procedural or substantive issues. Schedule, conduct, document, attend, and preside over meeting with support assigned tasks ensuring requirements or objectives are met. Retrieve data from various information sources for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports. Ensure all subordinate users are fully trained and aware of the proper use of hardware and software capabilities to meet mission objectives. Ensure the operation and operability of a variety of automated systems supporting the assigned military personnel functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must be willing and able to travel in military and commercial aircraft and vehicles.
  • Employee is required to work other than duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involvesdeveloping, evaluating, and leading military human resource personnel services programs such as military transition and retirement processing, in/out processing, issuing Common Access Cards (CAC) and USID cards, and processing units/individuals for deployment/redeployment. Utilizing automated military personnel systems such as the Integrated Personnel and Pay System - Army (IPPS-A), Installation Support Module (ISM) and the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Military Human Resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: HR Information Systems ApplicationLeadershipManaging Human ResourcesTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
