This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard, Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM), Training Division, Education and Training Quota Management Command (ETQC) in Norfolk, VA.  

Duties

This position is responsible for executing the Coast Guard's training program to produce a workforce prepared to execute all missions and functions.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Qualifications

To Qualify for the GS-09:  Applicants must possess one year (1) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: Executing agency's training policies and requirements; analyzing training data used and other various entities to make performance improvement and programmatic decisions; oversight of school training programs managed, as well as compilation and analysis of data of all schools managed; and ensuring valid, economical and effective use of training resources, assignment of quotas to personnel, and issuance of training orders. You may also qualify based on education or a combination of education and experience.    -OR-Master's or equivalent graduate degree  -OR-2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -OR-  LL.B. or J.D., if related -OR-Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
