You will serve as a MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the Operation Department, MSCLANT of CDR SEALIFT LOGISTICS CMD ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will be responsible for handling day-to-day activities as a staff duty officer as well as serve as the coordinator for contested environment training missions.
You will work within the MSCLANT procedures in terms of ships movements and reporting requirements.
You will work within the operations of MSCLANT, MSC command and control structure, naval message traffic.
You will serve as the Heavy Weather Officer and coordinate heavy weather communications between Fleet Weather Center MSCLANT Staff and effected ships.
You will be responsible for MSCLANT's planning and execution of major weather exercises such as HURREX.
You will provide daily weather briefs and track AOR vessels to ensure any weather effecting MSC ships is communicated.
You will ensure all necessary reports are created and staff is briefed on all meteorological disturbances potentially impacting the LANT AOR.
Requirements
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
11- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with MSC organization, as well as its operational, tactical, and administrative relationships with Fleet Commanders, Mission Sponsors, USTRANSCOM and its component commanders, the maritime Administration and the Coast Guard.
Experience supporting MSCLANT operations include review/draft message traffic; represent MSCLANT at fleet forces command, augment various MSCLANT departments as required by operations officer.
Experience coordinating, planning and maintains movement visibility of vessels utilized in accomplishing MSCLANT's mission.
Experience operating computers in a local area network, using common office software applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint and database.
Experience reviewing casualty reports and special incident reports in order to maintain or modify long and short-range schedules to meet emergent requirements or to mitigate operational impact of unplanned events.

Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
