The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating, delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Serve as a technician who accomplishes work of unusual difficulty and responsibility which has demonstrated technical innovation and recognized attainment.
Evaluates and provides recommendations on qualification of armament suppliers performing conditioning, inspection, test, and experimentation projects to show compliance with technical data.
Communicates with engineers, scientists, and program managers by advising on technical issues related to conditioning, inspection, test, and experimentation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91)).
- Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the DB-02 (GS-05 equivalent entry level), you must meet one of the requirements below.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing independent inspections in at least two of the following Non-Destructive Test (NDT) methods: Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Ultrasonic Inspection, Eddy Current Inspection. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-1/GS-4).
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your college transcripts).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your college transcripts).
To qualify at the DE-03 (GS-12/13) pay band, applicants must meet the specialized experience listed below (must be supported in your resume):- One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Lead inspector in at least four of the following Non-destructive test methods: Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Ultrasonic Inspection, Eddy Current Inspection. 2) Developing and approving technique sheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and/or work instructions for NDT inspections. 3) Overseeing/training others in NDT inspections and methodologies. 4) Performing independent audits of external NDT processes and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02/GS-5-11).
