This position serves as a Lead Budget Analyst in the Justice Management Division, Budget Staff, Working Capital Fund and Business Transformation Group located in Washington, DC. The Budget Staff has principal departmental responsibility for the development, direction, and execution of Department-wide program budget operations; funds control; planning and conduct program budget review efforts throughout the Department to assist top level officials in the assessment of objectives and efficiency.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and technical guidance on budget analysis in support of the Working Capital Fund and Business Transformation Group (WCFBTG). Develops, recommends, interprets or implements budgetary financial policies for the DOJ's Working Capital Fund (WCF). Provide expert advice to managers, customers, and WCF providers on all phases of the budget program. Oversees the development and justification of WCF operating plans as well as the ongoing execution of those resources. Make recommendations and provides technical assistance on budget levels for WCF providers and customers.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Lead Budget Analyst at (GS-0560-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Advising program official and budget analysts on budget formulation actions; Recommending approval or disapproval of requests for apportionments, allotments, or other funding requests; Analyzing budget execution activity and trends; AND Preparing narrative justifications for projected funding needs.
