Duties

You will install weapon systems in various industrial environments. You will test system capabilities including integration with multiple combat systems including, but not limited to, AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System interfaces. You will provide on-site support for operational testing and demonstrations at sea or land-based facilities. You will coordinate installation of Close-In Weapons Systems (CIWS) ordnance alterations (ORDALTs) (system wide) and provide direct government oversight for all alteration installation teams (AIT) performing ship alterations on all CIWS variants. You will provide support to the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Fleet Support Branch by installing CIWS ORDALTs and providing interim training on new equipment. You will serve as a liaison between South East Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP), Port Engineers, Project Managers, Design Yard representatives, and various Private Contractors. You will perform CIWS System Operational and Verification Testing (SOVT). You will provide a full range of technical, mechanical, operational and tactical training to Ship’s Force.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 pay band (GS-9/10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Installing and testing weapons systems to provide operational support of sea or land based testing and training for the operational readiness of a ship's force.
