You will serve as a Technician in the Division Operations Branch of the Airborne Electronics Attack Systems Division of the Spectrum Warfare Systems Dept of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The NT-05 pay band encompasses the GS-13 and GS-14. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).

Duties

You will serve as the Airborne Electronic Attack Systems Division (AEASD) Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Level II Lead Technician. You will have general cognizance over all AEASD NDI functions including ultrasonic inspection, eddy current and dye penetrant inspection techniques and personnel performing this tasking. You will oversee, train, mentor and provide technical guidance to Level I and II personnel. You will be responsible for monitoring project schedules and coordinating efforts between multiple personnel to determine the required fault detection criteria. You will develop, perform, qualify and approve procedures, establish techniques, interpreting codes and standards. You will be the Engineering Liaison to coordinate specialized testing events and advanced avionics inspection projects.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specializes experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11 and GS-12 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering methods and techniques to provide technical direction on Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) procedures for an organization.
