You will serve as an AIRCRAFT EXAMINER(PROGRESSMAN) in the MRO PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION LINES DIVISION of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will perform examination/evaluation and repair of aircraft integrated systems and major subsystems, subassemblies and structural components.
You will review aircraft logbooks, customer requests, flight crew discrepancies, mandatory removal requirements and special configuration records.
You will determine the depth, breadth of rework/repair/processing by authorizing repairs.
You will inspect, test, diagnose, trouble shoot and repair assigned aircraft performed individually or by other shop personnel.
You will provide technical advice and recommendations to customers regarding examination and evaluation results.
You will ensure the product meets technical specifications.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You may be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
- You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Must obtain and maintain all required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative including: 1) Plans the use of resources to meet the requirements of special projects, increases/decreases in schedules and other unexpected work; 2) Sets priorities commensurate with the complexity of the work without losing sight of the regularly scheduled work; 3) Pre-positions the workload and the materials required to accomplish assigned tasks; 4) Reviews new work along with work in process to determine resource requirements; 5) Communicates with the manager verbally or in writing on the status of work, availability of manpower, material or equipment, the workload assigned and the need for overtime or extra labor hours, extra personnel or place excess personnel; 6) Will coordinate the work of supporting shops to ensure that outside resources are available and timely; 7) Will adjust schedules, revise labor estimates, or adjust other resources to attain desired production levels. I work on my own initiative under general observation or supervision subject to occasional inspection.
I have the ability to perform common tasks under general observation or supervision including: 1) Can plan the use of resources to meet the requirements of special projects, increases/decreases in schedules and other unexpected work; 2) Sets priorities commensurate with the complexity of the work without losing sight of the regularly scheduled work; 3) Pre-positions the workload
and the materials required to accomplish assigned tasks; 4) Reviews new work along with work in process to determine resource requirements; 5) Communicates verbally or in writing on the status of work, availability of manpower, material or equipment, the workload assigned and the need for overtime or extra labor hours, extra personnel or place excess personnel; 6) Can coordinates the work of supporting shops to ensure that outside resources are available and timely; 7) Can adjust schedules, revise labor estimates, or adjust other resources to attain desired production levels. I work under the supervision of a higher level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
