About the Position: The incumbent works in a team-oriented environment serving as the senior technical Specialist and liaison with civilian organizations at local, regional, and national levels. Responsibilities include creating products that showcase the members of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), U.S. Army Central Command. Projects may be Army-wide, have international impact, be highly political/controversial, and/or have extremely high visibility.

Duties

Plans, writes and edits articles, and/or provides photographs for internal and external publications to include pieces which may be of a sensitive nature. Conducts research and participates in the formulation of plans and policies to ensure direct consideration of public information and public relations implications of planned actions. Writes speeches or talking points for the Commanding General or other designated individuals that promote the Command's messages and are appropriate to the audience and the occasion. Compiles historical reports from directorates to provide to the Command historian and manages the organizational historical report repository.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and access.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a no-fee Special Issuance Passport (SIP) and associated visa while assigned to a Federal civilian position in an area requiring a passport and associated visa.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position requires a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
  • This position is designated as emergency essential.
  • Business travel up to 50% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and the incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement . Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
