About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Space Planner (EUROPE) for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-5, in the Plans, Strategy, and Policy Directorate in Colorado Springs, CO. The incumbent will provide planning, coordination, and integration of Army forces and capabilities in support of space and missile defense operations.
Duties
Conduct research regarding all aspects of the space and missile defense plans and operations to predict possible situations pertaining to the upcoming missions.
Lead the development of operational war plans, contingency plans, other supporting plans, strategies, policies, and concepts concerning space and missile defense.
Integrate the Global Force Management (GFM) process throughout the organization.
Serve as a planner and lead diverse operational planning teams (OPTs) of various sizes incorporating internal and external experts and stakeholders to solve complex problems.
Respond to detailed questions, make recommendations, and provide feedback on Joint Staff, service, and combatant command policies, strategies, and plans.
Provide subject matter expertise for planning, coordinating, resourcing, and integrating space and missile defense into USASMDC, combatant command, service, and Joint strategies, campaign plans, and operations.
Provide deliberate, contingency, and crisis support planning for Army space, missile defense, and high-altitude in support of various commands and planners.
Act as Command lead planner and oversee all planning requirements for Army space, missile defense, and high-altitude within USASMDC Global Force Management (GFM).
Utilize the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES).
Manage projects, planning groups, and attend all relevant command conferences as necessary; and educate and advocate for the use of USASMDC capabilities.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Develop operational and contingency war plans involving tactical policies and concepts to define organizational strategies needed to accomplish missions; 2). Direct organizational readiness through the Global Force Management (GFM) processes consisting of the assessment of allocating apportionments ensuring personnel are properly assigned to each phase of the mission; 3). Integrate the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) throughout each phase of the assignment to minimize jeopardization of the mission; and 4) Lead operational planning teams (OPTs) to provide deliberate, contingency, and crisis support planning for global Army space, missile defense, and high-altitude forces and capabilities, ensuring organizational deadlines are met.
