The Program Support Assistant in support of the Veteran Experience Office Programs, including Whole Health, Patient Advocacy, and Customer Experience/Patient Experience Initiatives.

Duties

Major Duties: Plans, coordinates, and accomplishes a variety of program support tasks, such as recording/tracking specific program data and preparing and compiling data for special reports. Consolidates statistical and narrative data for reports and/or management review. Performs basic analysis of data to recognize trends and compiles data to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Researches, collects, and compiles statistical data and other information for special reports, as requested. Independently maintains tracking system to ensure reports and correspondence are submitted on or prior to established deadlines. The position will be responsible for utilizing various information technology (IT) formats and computer applications, assisting in coordinating project logistics, data collection and management, performing local trend analysis and other related studies, establishing, and maintaining project databases, communicating with project personnel, assisting with manuscript preparation and presentations, and helping with various other tasks. These other tasks may include, but are not limited to, determining local best practices, and return on investment studies and impacts. The position will coordinate and provide reports and analysis to support the many facets of quantitative and qualitative health services. Performs data collection activities. Extracts data, conducts data processing, and analysis. This includes setting up and maintaining statistical analysis software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access databases. The position will be responsible for utilizing various information technology formats and computer applications, coordinating project logistics, data collection and management, performing local trend analysis and other related studies, establishing and maintaining project databases, communicating with project personnel, assisting with manuscript preparation and presentations, and helping with various other tasks such as determining local best practices, return on investment studies and impacts. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/29/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of the regulations, laws, and policies including VA directives and handbooks, standards issued by accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission, and laws covering patient privacy and recordkeeping. Knowledge of general analysis principles, various data gathering and data management techniques, downloading and working with VA administrative databases, data cleaning, and entry and the ability to integrate the information into workable analysis plans. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of office equipment and skill in using a Personal Computer and associated software including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and printer in order to perform office duties; interest and ability to learn other programs as necessary. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to express thought clearly, and to develop ideas in a logical sequence, in order to prepare or compose correspondence, convey statements of fact or make inquiries, and to provide assistance. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work may involve occasional travel. The work is sedentary. Typically, the position sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. May be required to wear personal protective equipment if applicable. Incumbent may be required to travel by government vehicle to CBOC and the main facility as part of their duties.
