This position is TERM Not to Exceed 6 years. It is time-limited and may be extended up to eight years and may be made permanent.
About the Position: Serve as the representative of the Soldier for Life-Transition Assistance Program performing a variety of administrative, logistical, and related duties in direct support of the program.
Duties
Provide counseling of separation entitlements and/or referrals to service providers.
Report contractor activities and statistics to higher echelons.
Coordinate with representatives in the overall Department of Defense transition assistance program.
Recommend solutions to concerns or continued problems with the Solider attendance program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 6 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 6 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Providing transitional support to retiring or separating soldiers, family members or civilian employees; (2) Conducting briefings on transitional services program to customers; and (3) Maintaining a budget for services and purchases of office supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
