About the Position: The position is located within the Personnel Division, Weed Army Community Hospital, Fort Irwin, California. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the Division in all areas of files, clerical and administrative activities.
Duties
Plan and direct the administrative functions of the office to include development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures.
Develop internal controls and administrative procedures to meet office needs.
Coordinate special and recurring administrative reports utilizing an automated system.
Create, edit and reformat a wide range of office correspondence, documents and reports.
Print hard copies of incoming mail or route to other terminals as designated.
Provide assistance and information to various secretaries and supervisors/work leaders on matters relating to office procedures.
Coordinate travel arrangements for division office employees.
Receive telephone calls and visitors in order to ascertain nature of call or visit and provide information and/or replies to non-technical inquires.
Schedule Supervisor's appointment calendar and reminds supervisor of scheduled appointments and conferences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), Tier 1 may be required for this position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing various administrative and clerical tasks such as organizing/scheduling meetings, 2) utilizing automated systems to generate a variety of correspondence and/or reports; 3) maintaining files and/or records, and 4) responding to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
