About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

This position requires incumbent to be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies (humanitarian relief, exercises, national emergency, military operations, war, or other similar events). Work performed will be under stressful, arduous and austere field conditions in CONUS or OCONUS. Assist in planning and coordinating recurring studies in the development, review, and analysis of logistics facets of or pertaining to contingency, emergency, mobilization plans and operations. Assist in evaluating and assessing the battalion’s capabilities, implementing plans and developing mobilization operations plans and procedures. Maintain liaison and coordination with other directorates, AFSBn staff and local officials on development and activation of plans. Compiles staff estimates and assists in planning through Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). Assist with receiving logistics staff actions requiring coordination of input from commodity managers within the SPO (i.e., transportation, supply/services, and maintenance) and AFSB planners. Serve as a team member on special projects to include Materiel Readiness, Mobilization, Unit Deployment, Force Modernization, Contingency Stocks, and Command Supply Discipline Program. Evaluates logistics systems responsiveness; Provides input on draft and final operations plans, policies, procedures, and regulations received concerning accuracy, adequacy, supportability and operational impact. Serves as a team member on special projects to include supply, transportation, materiel readiness, Mobilization, Demobilization, force modernization, and contingency stocks. Reviews mobility planning impact and provides input to the Installation Deployment Support Plan (IDSP).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • This is a deployable DA civilian position. As such, incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive/remain up to date on required immunization for overseas or deployed location.
  • Position may require temporary duty (TDY) of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
  • Business Travel is 25%.
  • This position requires the Incumbent obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain an official passport.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics Management, Business Management. OR ???????Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
