About the Position: This position is located with the 1st Infantry Division, US Army, Fort Riley, Kansas 66442.
Duties
Coordinate with community agencies who provide the training.
Assist in the development of call rosters, telephone trees, and other similar documents.
Maintain day-to-day awareness regarding public, military, and/or administrative issues impacting the Families of deployed military personnel.
Assist in instructing/training units, Soldiers, and their Families on Family Readiness issues.
Update calendar of Family Readiness Group activities to Commander in an effort to minimize conflicts in scheduling.
Perform general office clerical duties in accordance with applicable regulations.
Ensure Family Readiness Groups are in compliance with the current SOP’s and regulations.
Use Microsoft Office Suite Programs to support Family Support activities.
Use the Volunteer Management Information System to pull and report information.
Provide accurate and timely family support communication between non-deployed personnel and families and those deployed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees may be required to work irregular work schedules such as evenings, weekends, and overtime.
- In addition to meeting the above qualifications, applicants will need to self-certify their typing proficiency. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 3 years.
- Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties within the Soldier Family Readiness Support Group as a Volunteer or employee; experience executing general office clerical duties; experience in using various office automation equipment, software, and related equipment; arranging support with other agencies for official functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
