About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville.
Duties
Assigned to the Student Administration Section and serves as a technical advisor for the Security Assistance Training Program (SATP), to include administration, IMS in/out processing tasks, IMS disposition, and occasionally training management.
Formulate tailored courses of action and/or offers technical advice to the staff in dealing with IMS involving language, cultural, religious, disciplinary problems and other sensitive areas.
Prepare and present oral briefings as required to U.S. and international personnel.
Compose correspondence and reports, prepare memoranda, agendas, schedules, contract and course materials for all course participants.
Use various computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook and Search Engines, on a daily basis to accomplish duties.
Search Internet and reference materials to understand cultures and customs of international student clientele.
Resolves problems involving student pay, travel, billeting, training, graduation, etc. by making appropriate recommendations. Provides assistance to the IMSO on all administrative facets of IMS arrival, course enrollment, and departure.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position is an obligated position to which the former incumbent has statutory reemployment rights under 10 USC 1586.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Govt issued driver's license in order to operate a 15-passengervan for student transportation both day and night, driving in all weather conditions.
- Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed 13 months by a current permanent Army employee.
- Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Identify and/or resolve problems of a personal nature, generally in the area of dependent's care, rental property, religious requirements, legal assistance, and general information for international students; Communicate fluently through speech and writing when interacting with international students and staff; Serve as an escort for tours and activities during weekends, holidays, and overnights for visitors from foreign countries; and Receive mail, determining priority to sort and distribute to military students. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
