You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Radiological Engineering Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide radiological oversight to ensure compliance during radiological work on naval vessel propulsion plant systems. You will assess the distribution and balance of work and provide input and advice on technical factors affecting work distribution. You will provide detailed analysis of radiological work practices and standards. You will develop and execute action plans and resolve complex problems within area of responsibility. You will lead the innovation and application of new knowledge and improvements for radiological processes. You will prepare, review and initiate approval of local, corporate and NAVSEA manual change requests.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering advisory services by overseeing, executing, and seeking resolution on Radiological Engineering matters involving radiological controls during nuclear maintenance and repair for a nuclear propulsion program.
