This is a Term Appointment NTE -3 years Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six(6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years
About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Human Resources Specialist performing a wide variety of duties related to officer and enlisted military personnel records.
Duties
Responsible for evaluating the eligibility of a wide variety of cases to be considered by selection boards for promotion, schooling, or separation
Addresses and resolves complex and unusual cases independently.
Designs and produces required reports and ensures eMILPO transactions are input to the Total Army Personnel Database as updates occur.
Works within several different personnel databases including EMILPO, TOPMIS, TOPMIS II, ISM, iPERMS, IWRS, and several others in order to ensure local official military personnel files are kept current and accurate
Prepares and reviews DD Forms 214/215/220, constructive notices of discharge, orders, amendments, transmittals, personnel rosters, and statistical discharge reports.
Receives and reviews computer-generated printouts of field recommendations for promotions or schooling from DA and compares them against local records to ensure no omissions occur or ineligible candidates are considered
Initiates personnel actions involved in the recruitment, selection, promotion, commendation, etc., of subordinates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience providing over-the-counter personal services to military and family members that pertain to the following: military personnel management procedures, processes, and entitlements, military organizations and personnel requirements; travel and entitlements related to temporary and permanent change of duty station.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resource, Business Administration, Organizational Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
