You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the NUCLEAR MATREIAL SUPPORT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. ***TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT without further competition***

Duties

You will be responsible for the direction, integration, and coordination of the Department's Nuclear Material Support Program. You will manage a full spectrum of activities associated with the nuclear material support for the Shipyard and Special Material Identification Code material for the fleet. You will be responsible for the administrative tracking of numerous control processes such as manager storage data, quality analysis, and the monitoring of cost and schedule data. You will be responsible for the Defective Material Summary (DMS) Program at the Shipyard.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with the latest developments in nuclear material support to solve problems that are not readily treatable by accepted methods. * Experience with shipyard nuclear material quality and nuclear material support related to construction, conversion, overhaul, alteration, repair and operation of naval nuclear reactor and naval nuclear propulsion plants. * Experience applying security requirements and procedures applicable to assigned programs. * Experience with the functional responsibilities, department policies and administrative constraints that impact the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
