You will serve as a SUPPLY SYSTEMS ANALYST in the NUCLEAR MATERIAL DIVISION, NUCLEAR ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be responsible for assisting the Lead Nuclear Material Manager in establishing policy within the Supply Department to assure that all Supply functions in support of the naval Propulsion Program are effectively accomplished. You will be responsible for all administrative details concerning Nuclear Material within the Supply Department. You will be responsible to investigate unusual problems encountered with procured nuclear material which might affect the quality, safety, and responsibility of Reactor Plant work. You will review and interpret all NAVSEA regulations for impact on the Shipyard Nuclear Material Storage Program. You will perform surveillance of shipyard storage and work areas to ensure compliance with NAVSEA regualtions.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience identifying, ordering, storing, issuing, handling and disposing of nuclear materials on the Shipyard. * Experience following all pertinent instructions and policy guidelines pertaining to nuclear material. * Experience analyzing and resolving difficult issues and problems in the nuclear material program. * Experience ensuring proper functions are followed in the Supply Department and working with various areas of supply operations. * Experience inspecting and ensuring all nuclear materials identified for disposal are demilitarized, recorded, tracked, and properly disposed.
