This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as a principal advisor to the Joint Individual Augmentation (JIA) Branch Chief regarding all joint individual augmentation sourcing matters.
Duties
As a JOINT INDIVIDUAL AUGMENTATION SPEC at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as a team lead for managing and coordinating iterative and complex joint individual augmentation sourcing activities amongst all stakeholders resulting in timely and accurate nominations published in current and future multi-fiscal years (FYs) Global Force Management Allocation Plan (GFMAP) Annex D base orders and modifications.
Leads the collaboration of daily efforts of the other JIA specialists in the Individual Augmentation Branch, along with the Combatant Commands, DoD agencies, and Services representatives to create a solution or impasse based on the Secretary of Defense policy and guidance.
Formulates and defends the Joint Force Coordinator sourcing recommendations in coordination with other JIA specialists and Joint Working Group action officers to verify the FP and CCMD risk assessments, shortfalls, or reclamas addressing contentious requirements through Fourth Estate Manpower Tracking System (FMTS), LOGBOOK, Joint Capabilities Requirements Manager (JCRM), ADVANA, or other approved replacement automated system in the future.
Maintains a complete and accurate accounting of all active, approved, and validated CCMD joint manning document requirements, regardless of sourcing status.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with key stakeholders to gather and research solid facts to support advice to senior leadership.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Interpreting, analyzing and evaluating issues associated with personnel employment and readiness in global operations, and recommends resolutions through vetted courses of action;
Interpreting Individual Augmentation (IA) programs, policies, responsibilities, scope, and applicability to personnel generation to fill global manpower requirements;
Operating currently approved joint, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps manpower, personnel and/or logistics systems to assess, monitor and track sourcing solutions to meet or exceed the approved minimum sourcing percentage approved by the Secretary of Defense;
Analyzing Global Force Management Implementation Guidance (GFMIG), Global Force Management Allocation Policies and Procedures (CJCSM 3130.06 series), Joint Individual Augmentation Procedures (CJCSI 1301.01series), and applicable Department of Defense (DoD) policies with the ability to understand, interpret and articulate manpower and personnel readiness issues balanced against globally unfunded requirements to obtain a senior executive-level decision;
Designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of joint manning documents, processes, and automated systems to provide recommendations with milestones and goals to reduce unprogrammed costs, manual inputs, and competing reviews, on work center, Force Provider (FPs) and Combatant Commands (CCMDs).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
