About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Police/Provost Marshal Division, Criminal Invest Branch, JBLM, WA.
Duties
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work..
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities.
Enforces programs for ethical conduct and demonstrates adherence to the values of loyalty, duty, respect, self-less service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Conducts long term investigations that may be complex and sensitive in matter involving persons and property.
Assists in the supervision of the operations of police patrols, traffic section, military police investigations, and the police desk.
Assists in the coordination of a myriad of special events and coordinates the overall law enforcement training requirements for the police with the DPS Training Officer.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a SECRET Security Clearance.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical examination/periodic medical evaluations to ensure the continued required level of health needed to perform the essential functions of the job IAW AR 190-56.
- This is a drug testing position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug test and random drug testing in accordance with AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete annual training on use of and defense against riot control agents; and accidental or intentional use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosive devices IAW AR 190-56.
- Must successfully complete weapons training and qualifications semiannually in accordance with AR 190-56.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates with convictions of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified.
- Must meet reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56.)
- May work rotating shifts and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and overtime.
- Must wear business attire and may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, shields, and body armor.
- Must have a valid, state-issued driver’s license.

Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; and 3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
