Duties

You will independently review incoming work generating documents such as utility outage requests, specific job orders, inspection reports, and condition assessment evaluations. You will be responsible for advising the maintenance manager on the specialized requirements for the upkeep of base facilities, equipment, and grounds. You will be required to make decisions in emergency or critical situations without higher review, in order to ensure that vital facility operating services are maintained. You will provide guidance, direction and training for lower graded facilities specialists in estimating the time, manpower and material needed for current and future facility maintenance requirements. You will independently analyze and evaluates facility research data. You will serve as the liaison for all requests for base utility outages frequently needed to accommodate new facility repair and construction projects.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-09 Facility Operations Specialist, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sectorproviding maintenance and managerial support in the operation, sustainment, and restoration of real property facilities and systems; ensuring the continuous operation of vital facility operating services (e.g., water, sewage, electricity, and gas); and reviewing incoming work generating documents (e.g., utility outage requests, job orders, inspection reports and condition assessment evaluations). GS-07 Facility Operations Specialist, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sectorproviding maintenance and managerial support in the operation, sustainment, and restoration of real property facilities and systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on an equivalent combination of education and experience as follows:

GS-07
1 full year of graduate level education; or
superior academic achievement

GS-09
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or
LL.M., if related
