You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the Operations Department, Technical Control/SATCOM Division of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.
Duties
You will respond to tasking by Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMSPAC) Joint Fleet Tactical Operations Center (JFTOC), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) or appointed authority.
You will operate the Automated Network Control Center (ANCC) system to electronically monitor and patch digital, analog, audio and optical circuitry.
You will operate secure non-secure voice circuits between communications facilities, aircraft and Afloat forces.
You will configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and perform fault isolation and system backups for various Technical Control Facility (TCF) telecommunications equipment systems.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- You must obtain the required credentials within 6 months of appointment and maintain those credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for DCWF specialty area 47.
- This position has been designated as a Cyber Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) in specialty area 411, and as a condition of employment, the incumbent of the position is required to maintain qualifications.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You must participate in a continuous learning (CL) program as described in SECNAV VIST 5239.20A and SECNAV M5239.2.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
Qualifications
Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
Ensuring availability and functionality of SATCOM telecommunications equipment systems supporting SHF and EHF communications (e.g. High Power Amplifiers (HPA's), up-converters, down-converters and cesium beams via the Control Monitor and Alarm (CMA) Mod 52)
Operate secure and non-secure voice circuits and ORDER WIRES between communications facilities and DSCS QC Satellite controllers. Configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform fault isolation and system backups, and establish policy and procedures.

Education
Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
