You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Materials) in the Nuclear Material Division, Nuclear Engineering Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will manage the material management program (scheduling, ordering, delivering, inspecting, inventory, re-shipment and final issuance) to support naval ship projects.
You will provide technical checks to determine conformance with specifications, material, and functional requirements, suitability for intended purpose, and integrity of completed installations.
You will maintain schedule adherence by periodic checks of progress and ensure assigned personnel understand the impact of schedule adherence on the code and the production effort.
You will ensure assigned personnel have common understanding of schedule and scope of work assigned.
You will interpret nuclear material schedules and intermediate milestones and estimating work to meet schedules.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift, when in an industrial area or work site.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work includes walking, some crouching, kneeling, crawling, carrying or relatively lightweight articles (generally less than 50 pounds), and climbing ladders aboard ship; and extended sitting at a computer workstation.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating and developing technical engineering procedures related to material management functions (e.g., inspection, inventory or delivery schedules) to ensure timely completion of nuclear ship projects.
