You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the Base Communications Department, Resource Management Division of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.
Duties
You will serve as a Telecommunications Specialist, Customer Service Representative.
You will serve as the central point of contact for Base Level Communications customers.
You will receive, prioritize, and process all incoming communications service requests and generate work orders in response to customer requirements.
You will provide information to connect telephone/circuits numbers by utilizing cable records, data from DSN switches and circuit layout records to locate specific connection points.
Requirements

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
GG-9:
Experience with telecommunications operations and maintenance processes and procedures, as gained by working in a base communications office and/or commercial telecommunications environment
Experience with voice telephony systems/equipment, fiber optic communications/networks and digital switching systems
GG-7:
Experience with basic telephone theory, telephone circuitry and electronics communications systems and operations
Experience with voice telephony systems and computerized digital switching equipment
This position is within the Work Category Technician and Admin Support at Work Level III, Series and Grade GG-07/09.

Education
Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology:
GG-9:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
GG-7:
1 full year of graduate level education
or
superior academic achievement
