Duties

You will work on a variety of electrical systems including solar photovoltaic, uninterrupted power supplies, protective relays, main panels, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, exterior/interior lighting, and pole mounted lighting. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical systems as well as assist and support the operation of emergency generators, natural gas and propane gas system components. You will assist Journeyman level tradesmen in the maintenance and repair of emergency back-up generators to include refueling, oil and fluid changes, logging run time hours, facility connection and transfer switches. You will be required to locate existing utilities, dig trenches, clear brush and vegetation using hand and power tools.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to be able to lift and carry 100 pounds of weight for short distances.
  • You will be required to work on assigned shifts but will also be subject to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • You will be required to furnish basic hand tools typical of the trade.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including performing carpentry, paint, masonry, glass, plumbing/pipefitting, industrial equipment repair, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and electrical repair trade work.
